The Dark Tangent: "I wanna congratulate Julia for her role change. So, I followed you, or I should say, my wife followed you and I guilty watched your character in your Suburgatory role. But I remember watching that character and thinking, oh man, that's a pretty, you know, typecast role, like you're gonna have to escape that if you're gonna continue. Next thing I know you're like grunged out, smokin' a cigarette and like kicking in doors and hacking shit. Like that'll probably work. So what drew you to that role change?"

Julia Leisinger: "Well, one, thank you, that's incredibly high praise. For those of you who don't know, like probably most of you, I was on this show called Suburgatory and I played this Barbie -- tight pink clothes, blonde hair, spray tan, you know the look. As an actor, I want to be given the chance to play as many kinds of people as I can, and Dalia was certainly unique but I haven't been looking to replicate her the same way I'm not looking to replicate anyone I've played. So I'm personally not surprised I went from one extreme to the other, but I know a lot of people who are nice enough to follow my career are like what is she doing? But one of my favorite stories, like - legitimately, I will be telling my grandkids about this and they'll be like, shut up, nana, we've heard about it - is how Sam Esmail didn't want me at all for this role? Like to the point where he didn't even want to see me, but Susie Farris, our casting director went to Sam and Chad, our EP, and went, I think you need to see Julia for this. Like, I'd sent in an audition that got buried in all the others, and she's telling them to give me a chance. And they're like, are you kidding? The girl from Suburgatory? The chick from Twilight? Do you even understand this character at all? And it turned into this whole big thing between them where they thought she was crazy and she kept going to bat for me, and finally they said okay, we'll see her. And I didn't know this at the time, but they were so pissed they had to see me -- had to, as far as they know, waste their time on someone they were never casting. And obviously it worked out but can you imagine if it hadn't?"

"I would follow Ryan Heffington into Hell, because he's a genius and I'd trust that he knows what he's doing." - Julia Leisinger, re: Anna (x)
